During the development of multicellular organisms, cells gradually transition from an undifferentiated state to expressing different gene products, leading to the formation of distinct morphologies and functions. In this process, gene expression must be tightly regulated to ensure proper development of a functional organism. Understanding how gene expression is regulated during development is fundamental for the clinical application of stem cells.

My laboratory uses Drosophila as a model system to study how gene expression and its regulation influence the development of neurons and glial cells during their interactions.
